This guide combines two signals: what Redditors actually recommend across r/bjj and r/sydney threads from 2018 to 2025, and which gyms show up most in our logged competition results. The two lists overlap less than you would expect.

Our database logs competition results per gym, and the volume leaders are not the three gyms above. Legacy BJJ Willoughby has 218 logged results, the most of any Sydney gym, and SJJA Rouse Hill has 181. Team Perosh (62), Garage Jiu Jitsu Darlinghurst (45, and the highest community rating in the city’s data at 80), Movement Martial Arts (25), and Kumite Jiu Jitsu (21) follow.
