What Reddit says about Alliance Jiu Jitsu Chula Vista

I think you should visit a couple of places. If you can throw a rock in San Diego, you’ll hit a BJJ gym. I’ve trained at a few of the following and have heard great things about the others: -North Coast JiuJitsu -Victory MMA -Legion -Alliance -The Arena -10th Planet San Diego source, 2025 ↗

Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Vista CTC -Certified Training Center. There’s only two CTC’s in San Diego county. source, 2024 ↗

I live in San Diego, but can’t really help you with those choices and your given criteria. I only train jiu-jitsu and primarily in the gi. Victory has a good fundamentals program run by Adam Mazin. I haven’t trained at The Arena since Baret Yoshida left (it’s a Six Blades affiliate now). I’ve trained at 10th Planet, but people seem to love it. Alliance (on Miramar Rd) is probably where I’d go if I was looking for one gym that does both well. source, 2024 ↗

You're in luck: San Diego is the mecca of MMA! And believe it or not, fighting gyms are generally very welcoming and friendly to new folks. It's a humbling sport, so the coaches and athletes are almost always very laid back. I recommend muay thai and no-gi jiu jitsu. 10P, Victory, and Alliance are all reputable and friendly. Try a few and see what you like. source, 2023 ↗

You’re welcome! If you have any other questions feel free to DM me. I am very familiar with Concept2 products, Schwinn AD7/Rogue Echo (basically the same bike), and Assault products. I’ve only been doing BJJ for a year, it’s a great community and I love it. I train out of Del Mar Jiu Jitsu, the received got his black belt for Johnny Souza from Alliance San Diego. source, 2023 ↗

Those are all good schools. Legion, just down the block from Alliance, appears to have a good, dedicated beginner program too. I train at Barum BJJ and you’re welcome to come visit us too. source, 2022 ↗
