I've heard great things about Triforce too! If you're looking for nogi, check out BJJ Gym Tokyo they have some open mat sessions listed on their site. Hopefully, their schedule works with your plans. Let me know if you end up trying them out! source, 2025 ↗

Thank you! I'll give it a shot at Triforce Shinjuku as I have to pass by Shinjuku for work. Nice to hear that is even better than the HQ in Ikebukuro. In Shinjuku, were there many big guys there? On their IG I see often people who seem to be around 65-70kgs-ish and much less than 185cm? I'm still trying to figure out the standard prices for both BJJ and kickboxing gyms for hobbyists in Tokyo. I've read good reviews about Axis. I'll try to schedule a trial session with them later this month. source, 2024 ↗

You've probably been here, but I went to Carpe Diem Hiroo last year and really enjoyed it. Here's my write up: [https://www.reddit.com/r/bjj/comments/17ujmbj/carpe\\_diem\\_hiroo\\_tokyo/](https://www.reddit.com/r/bjj/comments/17ujmbj/carpe_diem_hiroo_tokyo/) While researching I also found this place, but wasn't convenient for me: [https://www.bjjglobetrotters.com/tri-force-jiu-jitsu-academy-shinjuku-tokyo-japan/](https://www.bjjglobetrotters.com/tri-force-jiu-jitsu-academy-shinjuku-tokyo-japan/) You're also probably wayyy more familiar with the restaurants than I am but I'm still thinking ab source, 2024 ↗

Join a Brazilian Jiu jitsu gym! Tokyo has several world class level gyms like tri-force, carpe diem, or even Bonsai Tokyo. Great for cardio and for your mental, plus you get to learn a very useful martial art source, 2024 ↗

I train at Triforce but if you're coming as a tourist I recommend the Carpe Diem dojos, they have the nicest facilities and are probably the most equipped to handle foreigners. You do need to contact them in advance. This goes for any gym -- I don't know of any that accept walk-ins. source, 2023 ↗

The Kodakan in Tokyo is a really cool experience if you do any stand up/Judo. There were some other dudes cross training at Triforce there and they recommended it. source, 2018 ↗
