Yes. His talk on comparing knowing jujitsu to swimming really stuck with me. If you know how to swim and you’re dropped in deep water, there’s no problem. Knowing jujitsu is a similar phenomenon. I walked into a gym called Autore in Los Angeles. I was nervous but found it to be a very welcoming & positive environment. The two brothers who teach there are awesome and very encouraging regardless of your background or experience in training. It’s probably the most humbling thing I’ve ever done. There is a huge difference between the fakes that have their students fling themselves around and the masters with true skill. I come from a hard style that isn't known for any internal skill and seriously up until about a year and a half ago would laugh at it and say the same thing. The thing is... it isn't magic, but there are interesting phenomenon associated with internal skill. One day while practicing things just started to click together. Posture, breathing, timing.
