I believe you should come to the major cities, either Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane. I’m in the Northern Beaches of Sydney and there are so many expatriates children who are living the dream. They pick up English very quickly and there is so much to do extra curricular eg BJJ Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is great for confidence and making friends. Plenty of girls doing BJJ and loving the inter-action. It’s expensive in Australia as you’re aware however I don’t think you’ll regret it. source, 2025 ↗

Partner and I made the move just over a year ago. Loved in the hills district and now live near Mandurah. We will never go back. We live within 5 mins of a beach, a river and the massive inlet, parks everywhere, major shopping centres, no traffic, people smile and say hello to you, we have a brick home on 1100sqm for $444k (equivalent property where we lived in Sydney would’ve been $1.5M+, add in proximity to beaches and that number climbs easily into multiple millions). Making friends can be tough I’ve heard, but not a huge concern of mine, my partners had made a few already. I’ve made 2 source, 2024 ↗

My boys have beat the beep test a couple of times. 8yo & 11yo. We make sure they spend 2 hours every day outside and we all do lots of outings that involve walking. Other than that they do Jiu Jitsu once/twice a week. Oh and it helps that my wife is a crazy Northern European - lots of outdoors & cycling. (She - Netherlands, me - Aussie, live - Sydney - lots of good weather). They also spend 4-6 hours on screens Saturday & Sundays (we live in a goddam flat), and a couple some week nights. Farewell Anthony Lange. So tonight Anthony Lange (he’s the small guy, I’m the tall one) one of Australia’s pioneers of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and MMA conducted his last grading at his academy headquarters in Manly on Sydney’s northern beaches Australia. Anthony is a 4th degree Bjj black belt under John Will via the Machado brothers lineage. John is one of Bjj’s ‘Dirty Dozen’ or the first 12 non Brazilians to achieve Faixa Preta (black belt). Anthony is multiple masters world Bjj champion and cornered the first Australian to ever fight in the UFC, Elvis Sinosic, when Elvis fought and bested source, 2022 ↗
