Depends on where you are going to stay. Best gyms I know: Mathias Ribeiro and Somos Jiu Jitsu. source, 2024 ↗

Where in Madrid are you looking? The gyms I know are all opened. I trained in an affiliate of Mathias Ribeiro, which is probably the strongest team here, and they are training normally. No covid cases bjj related as far as I know. source, 2021 ↗

Depends on where you stay! There isn’t a gym exactly in the center so here are the following: -Mathias Ribeiro bjj. The most successful ibjjf team in Madrid located north of the city in a suburb-like neighborhood of arturo soria. Good range of belts and everyone there seems to be physically strong as well. So if you’re not get outclassed by some Swift jiu jitsu, be ready to be physically dominated haha. The only down side is the size of the gym. Lots of ppl for a small venue, and with the summer dry heat Spain brings, you feel like you’re rolling in an oven! Then the occasional foot or butt i source, 2019 ↗

I'm at Lotus Club, and can highly recommend it. Great instructor, good facilities, and big classes with plenty of colored belts. We have a few very successful competitors too. Mathias Ribeiro is known as a competitive team, but I think that would be quite far for you (also I personally do not like their facilities, even though the training is great). I have a good friend at Tatamisfera who is very happy there, I think that gym might be the closest to you, but it depends on the metro/bus connections available to you. CheckMat is also a good option, but again, might be a bit far. Also, in ge source, 2019 ↗

I recently came back from a BJJ break in Madrid. I blogged about it if you want more details - https://bjjminion.wordpress.com/2018/05/19/bjj-minion-on-tour-jits-and-the-city-madrid/#more-7628 However Stealth Madrid, Crazy Team and Matthieus Ribeiro were all awesome to visit. If you after an English Instructor and possible a place to stay (Jits and the City) I recommend Stealth https://www.stealthbjj-madrid.com source, 2018 ↗

Valdir cabeza linhares is your dude for mma in madrid, he is close to werdum. If you're looking for bjj I'd suggest Mathias ribeiro or rafael ribeiro. Intime mma has a great gym but the mma and bjj it's runned by a brazilian dude who is not that experienced. That being said kickboxing / muay thai is much more popular in madrid you might want to check out nacho chamorro and his academia de lucha, he is a high level striking coach and has even cornered jean charles skarbowski (gsp's french muay thai friend from tuf). He is a bjj blue belt but you might get some really good striking from him and source, 2015 ↗
