I started training in 2003, we were a small group. Back then bjj was not common where I lived. I learned slowly and first got my blue belt in 2006, then the purple one in 2009, the brown one in 2013 and finally the black one in 2018. I have been injured for the last year with a tear in the knee ligaments, but I'm almost there to 100%. ​ I have not competed much, where I lived there were no IBJJF competitions and it was difficult to move. I moved to Madrid three months ago, and I'm finally starting to get used to living here. I've made a few friends, I have a routine, I know my way around, I'm starting to get a grasp on the language, and so on. Be patient, as it might take some time to make new friends. Check out meetup.com for various activities that you're interested in, and go to a few language exchanges, as someone already suggested. If you have any hobbies that you are passionate about you should try to find a local club or organization for that.
