Heyyyyy u should try jiu jitsu ⛄️ if u r just doing weight lifting workouts a martial art like this one is so good for the creative mind. Since physical consistency is what ur good at, take it to ur advantage. That is what jiu jitsu is about. Using limitations to ur advantage. When one of your limbs is immobile, when ur opponent is bigger than u, when the odds seem stacked against, you use the little freedom u have to work with in a creative way to get out of the trapped position. OK, I'm a poor judge of time. It's 0.9 miles away, so it depends on your walking or jogging speed. After you get out of the Metro station, which takes time, a 3 MPH walk should take 20 minutes, but a 6 MPH jog can get you there in 10. Hey Kat. Tough to say. I believe Yamasaki in Rockville has a girls only class. That said, if you are new to DC, I would advise staying in D.C., for convenience purposes. Always best to go on the school web site and shoot a quick email to the instructor. I am sure either way you will be made to feel comfortable. FYI:I train out of Yamasaki in Springfield, and there are a handful of regular girls on week nights. source, 2013 ↗

Not to be a Brazilian jiu-jitsu fanboy, but stop by Yamasaki Academy at 2639 Connecticut Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC (closest school to Adams Morgan). It's physical chess combined with a great deal of fun and you get what you put into it. Not everybody is shooting to be a world champion and not everybody is a once a week hobbyist. There's quite a spectrum of people involved in it too. Every single BJJ place I have ever stopped by or rolled at has had a great atmosphere generated by fun, smart and competitive people.
