Since there's been some chatter about doing another Reddit MMA event, I thought it might be fun to share my experience here! As noted in the title, back in 2014 some folks right here in r/MMA started daydreaming about putting on a night of Redditor-vs-Redditor fights. One person had a connection to the Tuff-N-Uff promotion in Las Vegas, people started matching themselves up, and before I knew it, I was on a plane to Vegas. I agree. CJJ is a lot of fun to participate in and to watch. Modern bjj tends to be pretty boring, even with two exciting competitors. Even UFC fights can be rough with multiple rounds of jabs & leg kicks. CJJ prevents stalling on the feet with the get down rule, and as soon as it's on the ground, slaps are in play, which changes the nature of the game pretty substantially. BJJ is 100% less exciting than CJJ. UFC has the potential to be more exciting - and usually is. But I'd take a boring CJJ fight over a boring UFC fight any day. source, 2019 ↗

To be fair to his coach he is still young and has holes in his game. For example Satava beat him recently at F2W pretty decisively. For these nogi tournaments and super fights the belt doesn’t rly matter but since he still does ibjjf gi tournaments I can see why his coach hasn’t thrown him into black belt yet. source, 2019 ↗
