Lots of quality gyms around. Gyms I've trained at or know have a good reputation: * Legacy * MyBJJ * High Rollers Jiu jitsu * SJJA Crows Nest (my gym, lots of classes, mostly gi) If you want specifically competitive focus: * Sydney West Martial Ar... source ↗
I’m Vietnamese American who lived in Sydney for 2 years before moving to melb. Love melb way more. I’d say it’s about 20% cheaper than Sydney and public transportation is way better. Also great if you like cycling. In terms of community, the bigge... source ↗
I don’t believe that class structure is unique to John. Lachlan ran a very similar format when I was training in Melbourne and it works great there, even for the hobbiests. In Sydney I use a similar format in my classes at Grappling Education and ... source ↗
VT1 and SJJA are good schools/gym from what I’ve heard. Also check out myBJJ at cremorne as well as lunchtime classes in the cbd, with HQ at Camperdown, Im pretty sure you can train at all those locations under the same membership, plenty of class... source ↗

honestly northwest sydney is full of bjj because a lot of middle aged middle class dads with disposable income do it. check google maps to see if there are any in rouse hill in particular, but i know for certain castle hill has about a dozen gyms ... source ↗
They used to have BJJ and boxing classes, at least ag the castle Hill and Sydney ones - they were a rip-off anyway, the BJJ was taught by a blue belt. source ↗
Personally train at alliance, have been to open sparring, sjja, gracie humaita and higher jiujitsu. Any gym will do if you find the right vibe for you so do some trial classes. Come on down to Alliance source ↗
