I practice Choy Lee Fut, Muay Thai, Boxing and BJJ. I am teaching CLF in Sydney, Australia. IMO, form is a way to condition your body, guide you develop the power in CLF way. In our form, we also introduce idea for street fight, especially one to two or more. We start from big and long movement at the beginner level. Form is also a way to make others identify your style and lineage. It is also good to self practice without too many equipments and partner. For practical, drills, pads works are essential to develop the angle, timing and accuracy. It’s hard to explain in text. Hop source, 2025 ↗

Bjj has a massive hateboner for Josh because of his Gordon affiliation(I don't like what he did with Mo and Craig either thought that was some bullshit but important to separate your bias on subjects like this). I've used both and am no longer a subscriber of either, they're both great services I just take notes screenshots of everything and then stop after a month or two because I'll have plenty to work on. I think hpu is better for beginners it's a more streamlined system, the guys at Sydney west from what I understand have come up with an extremely efficient system and he shows moves with source, 2024 ↗

That's still a pretty big radius. For the inner west, I'd say Mybjj or Legacy are both great gyms. source, 2023 ↗

Three gyms stand out to me in Sydney, the first would be Open Sparring HQ. It's a gym that hosts a bunch of amatuer tourneys that attract talent from around the country in muay thai, BJJ and mma. Modern facilities and seems friendly towards beginners The second would be Igor mma, no frills hard-core mma gym with a team of UFC fighters and a bunch of amatuer fighters The third would be SBG Australia which is a global chain of mma gyms that's proven to train high level mma talent with professionals making it the UFC source, 2023 ↗

Truly admire your take mate, but have you met the snobs of inner city Melbourne and Sydney? I'm sure they'd consider jiu-jitsu a knuckle draggers persuit. source, 2022 ↗

Here’s some of my favourites to visit in different cities: Melbourne: Absolute MMA (St Kilda & CBD), Immersion Ringwood, Mustang Sports Centre Sydney: myBJJ Westside (Lidcombe), Gracie Jiu Jitsu Sydney, (Sydney Wrestling Academy is on my list for next time) Queensland: Full Metal Jiu Jitsu, Base Gracie Jiu Jitsu Outside of that if you’re going through Perth you’d be crazy to not visit William Dias’ gym, he recently got silver at AJP beating Tommy Langaker (controversially), but regardless has an impressive resume. And if you’re driving between Melbourne and Sydney then feel free to st source, 2022 ↗

MyBJJ Westside, in Lidcombe. I know an international student who works as an ubereats bicycle rider, and he trains at MyBJJ in Camperdown. The Lidcombe location is closer to you so go there, those guys are really crazy good, they train with world champions in jiu jitsu. MyBJJ team won 2019 Sydney Open, and has always got medaling results in competitions. source, 2021 ↗

Open sparring is right by townhall station and seems to good for beginners and experienced. I was going to train there before i started working at home 80% of the time. There is a place called Garage Jiu Jitsu which I hear is good, but I've never visited. Roots is not too far away, but i've heard mixed reviews. I think there are a number of places in Bondi. Just email the club, most places do a free pass. I know Open Sparring does. Just tell them you are a complete beginner and they will take care of you source, 2021 ↗
