What Reddit says about Level Ground Mixed Martial Arts

3 verbatim community mentions from r/bjj and city subreddits, unedited, positives and negatives alike.

Plenty of injuries in Judo. My fucked up body can attest to it. Despite rare nonsense like this BJJ is a far lower impact and safer sport, especially at the hobbyist level. source, 2025 โ†—

I trained Muay Thai in the 1990s long before I started BJJ. You don't have to necessarily do full contact sparring, you don't have to do knees and elbows in sparring, you can wear headgear/boxing gloves/shin pads/etc, but you absolutely do have to do some level of free sparring. If the entirely of training consists of calisthenics, pad drills, dutch drills, and bag work, then you're not doing Muay Thai you're doing some boxercise type of aerobics class. It's like BJJ without positional sparring or rolling, only drilling, you're simply not learning the timing required to become proficient. source, 2025 โ†—

Iโ€™m honestly not even surprised at this point. New levels of stupid have been reached. Congratulations! ๐ŸŽŠ source, 2025 โ†—
