John is the hardest worker I've seen in any domain, ever ... He is on the mat teaching public and pro classes from 9am to 9pm daily with very little time in between. He is very charismatic and a 10/10 \\*public\\* instructor (we all obviously know he is a great pro coach as well). This stinks of someone who has never been to his class before. Come to Austin and check out a public practice; you'll be pleasantly surprised... Hey, there. I'm a black belt in a few styles. To be fair, any martial art will help with confidence. If we are talking purely for women's self-defense, I'd go with BJJ. My reasoning is size and circumstance. If she gets attacked it will more than likely be by a larger male with bad intentions (SA). She's unlikely to punch her way out of that. Weight classes exist for a reason. She will end up on her back with a guy trying to get in between her legs. Guess what BJJ is really good at? Defending against bigger people trying to get in between your legs while you are on your back. I knew an extreme source, 2025 ↗

Check out [BVMMA](https://www.bvmma.com). Owner Bubba is a great dude, Aggie and black belt under Carlos Machado. He was also in the UFC back in the day. Huge grappling community there, from beginners to competitors. They take a crew to almost every big BJJ tournament and do really well. Original post in case it gets deleted: Feeling profoundly lost atm. Not to ask for any sympathy, but just want give you guys the sense that it’s not any better even if you get everything you want in life. Moved to Austin, Texas in 2024 for work. Work a high paying job in Tech Sales. My 401k is pretty sweet. Own my own apartment (have a mortgage), own my car (Tesla) outright, have taken my hobby to its absolute limit (black belt in BJJ). I started working out for mental health reasons and even got to 15% body fat. Have two college degrees (also paid off). But still lost. But what is it all f source, 2025 ↗

I would have to do comedy gigs in LA +10 years at gay clubs to be anything near Rogan in terms of woke liberalism pre 2017 when he pivoted to alt-right, an then in 2021 when he went to Austin and got owned by spotify(blackrock, and went full right ( well if you can call Trumpism right, and forgetting them him & raygun were life long demoRats ; Rogan well known in LA gay comedy clubs and MMA BJJ (Brazil culture vector to LA) being the scene in the day got a chance to be an announcer at UFC, the rest is history, no thanks not a Rogan fan boy; source, 2025 ↗

TBF I think dunking and getting a bjj black belt are tied for last. People were really arguing that running a sub 8 Iron Man is less impressive than getting a black belt. There's less than a 100 people ever that have run a sub 8 Iron Man. There's more than 100 people in Austin alone that are BJJ black belts. source, 2024 ↗
