Left for college and then work after that. Came back after 7 years because Seattle is fucking awesome. I have some family here and a lot of friends, I love the weather, also the parks/lakes/hikes are some of the best, and we have tons of outdoor activities. People here are mostly educated as well (which has a massive impact on quality of life). I have jiu jitsu gyms here, and bars that host card and board game nights. It's a great place to raise kids as well. For all the hate Seattle gets for not handling the homelessness situation (and it is indeed a problem), it's an amazing place. source, 2023 ↗

Knowing how bad your situation was, I'm surprised you don't recognized that most people in Seattle didn't grow up in conditions you did. Especially not if they're in the UDistrict, statistically. I lived in that neighborhood for 10 years, so I'd know. I'm a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt w/ 17 years on the mats so I've got a better grasp on fighting than most. Getting into altercations on the street is fucking dangerous no matter what neighborhood you're from. Some people just have a higher tolerance for risk. I do agree with you, though. It's the same with soccer, American football, baseball, rugby, cricket, water polo, handball, basketball etc. Even incredibly niche sports like Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or Greco-Roman wrestling I can easily find tactical videos for. Hockey is seriously lacking in fan created and professional content that explains the nuances of the game. You see tidbits of it here and there. Weird that KERF seems the sanest of the lot… Yes, Emily and fam moved to AZ since masks were still mandated at Seattle-area schools. I think she is conservative-leaning and VERY wealthy — they had two homes, she doesn’t work a traditional job, they own two businesses (the kombucha business and like a jiu-jitsu studio or something?), and she travels more than literally any person I know. source, 2022 ↗

His name is Seth Grande.. he's literally the first person I started Jiu-Jitsu with an MMA 17 years ago with. He was a straight edge kid, but a nice kid. Him and I trained with Anderson Silva and Minotauro together. Kid as tough as nails. That's not his master, and usually they pay to fight him. They can put it on their resume. He's out of seattle, or used to be. He lived in Israel for a while and then he moved to Thailand to train. I just spoke with a renton cop at jiu jitsu last night. He said in the next 3-5 years Seattle will have a nondeployable police force, and that the national guard will probably have to step in to cover. Think about that for a second. source, 2022 ↗
