I grew up on the central coast of California, did 0 wrestling even though we had a good wrestling team. Chuck Liddell was a bouncer at the bars downtown and my friends would try tell me who he was and I had no clue. WEC was taking place all around me and I had no clue. It wasn’t until a decade later when I moved to Melbourne Australia when I started watching UFC that I came across Jiu Jitsu. I was watching it with a friend and I remember the fight ending and I was saying “what even happened”. My friend told me that it was Jiu Jitsu. That’s where my journey started! I got addicted after my 1st source, 2023 ↗

I don’t believe that class structure is unique to John. Lachlan ran a very similar format when I was training in Melbourne and it works great there, even for the hobbiests. In Sydney I use a similar format in my classes at Grappling Education and SJJA and you see the same at Sydney West Martial Arts where I train. I strongly believe that, for the most part, warmups for Jiu Jitsu is just a way for a coach to waste a good chunk of time. source, 2023 ↗

IMO. She’s right with sport spectators traditionally favouring men’s competitions. But can anyone in the BJJ community tell me they actually wouldn’t watch or are less likely to watch Polaris if it had Ffion on it? At Pan Pacs in Melbourne there was just as much interest in the women’s divisions as men. Less entrants but same amount of spectators. I can only speak from personal experience but nobody tunes out on women fights when I been watching them in BJJ. Live or stream source, 2022 ↗

Hola Pablo, bienvenido! I'm from Venezuela and I've lived here for a long time. Melbourne is a great city, you'll love it! One thing to keep in mind though: making friends works a bit different here. Unlike our countries, don't expect people to invite you to their home for lunch after playing sports once with them. Compared to our culture, it takes a bit longer for people to open up, but that doesn't mean they aren't friendly. I've made a lot of great friends here, it's just the dynamics of friendship are a bit different. If you're into martial arts, you should come and train BJJ at my club! source, 2022 ↗

Fuck the journos, Kent is the delusional one. Here is a list I started to keep last year. It is a bit hard to go too far back but you can still see a clear pattern that every August or September without fail the annual Melbourne Storms are ruining our game articles begin and the pandemic was never going to stop it this year. --- September 2003 - [The beginning](https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl/teams/raiders/the-night-storm-became-nrls-worst-wrestlers--14-years-on-and-still-best-in-business/news-story/057554eb71f0ecd7545de293c2b20651). Where do you live and what are you hobbies? If you're south east and like jiu jitsu, I'll be your friend. I used to try to make friends with the lonely Melbourne people but I found they were the own cause of their lack of friendship. They wouldn't return efforts to hang out and wouldn't take part in activities that create friendships. People claim to want friendship but seem to think that it just happens and you'll wind up with a good friend. You need a reason to spend time together and effort from both people. source, 2020 ↗
