I second VOW. Ryan, the owner, is incredibly technical but brings a laid back attitude to his gym. There are a lot of women even at the open mats on Sunday. I’m recently back to Austin and rejoining BJJ after a 4 yr hiatus and the whole crew has been amazing and welcoming. As a user above me pointed out there are a few considerations you may want to make. Are you interested in gi, no gi or both? Where are you generally located in the Austin area. Does the schedule work for you? What’s your budget look like? Most gyms do allow a trial class and I highly recommend that because finding the source, 2025 ↗

Military woman here. I live in the Austin area and there is so much BJJ here. VOW and 10th planet might be worth a look, both have a high female population and 10P does free for military classes 3 times a week (usually small tho). Atos HQ in San Diego has a ton of high level female competitors. source, 2025 ↗

Assuming you're going to UT Austin, their club is pretty awesome. I think they have classes 6 times a week with excellent instructors. Classes are pretty big and it's super cheap for what you're offered. Renzos, the VOW, and the new Eastside Parlor are all pretty close to campus. Renzo's is the most famous but most expensive and since it's the home of New Wave, you'll get the celeb type training. The instruction is excellent but it's gonna be full of high level people visiting. As a new white belt it really doesn't matter where you train as you're going to suck.
