I travel quite a lot for work sometimes 3 month before getting home. And often I switch cities/countries every 2 weeks. This is what I learned: \\*Always bring a white GI when you travel. Some schools only allow white GIs or certain colors but every gyms accepts white \\*Try not to bring your schools GI patch. I only had one issue with this, where one school said that I couldn't wear that GI because it was a associated with another school. (3 guesses which school this was). So bring a non team GI white GI or be prepared to buy one of theirs. \\*Let them know your belt level, espec source, 2024 ↗

Depends a bit on what you’re trying to achieve. I train under black dragon Kai in Molendinar. We split the year up 6 months no gi and 6 months gi. There is also fight club bjj there in the same space, I guess we’re sister clubs. Fight club also has a school in Miami they have all different time slots too. source, 2024 ↗

go to an mma/bjj gym and stick with it. They will be your brothers through anything as long as your consistently in the gym. It helped my loneliness im a 20yo who’s been seeing escorts for 3 years I just stopped, you may feel like you have nothing in life but that means your life is a blank white canvas waiting to be painted your still young too and can choose the direction of your life. I went to trade school too to learn how to work on cars that’s a hobby that keeps me occupied too the car community is actually pretty big I’m sure you’d like it too.No girl cares I’m going to be honest just b source, 2024 ↗

gonna take a contrary position. the way you write your post, it implies you never had acne but since starting BJJ you do. if you've had acne in the past, it's likely not BJJ agree with others on diet, I would also suggest * sunlight unprotected (responsibly, don't go out from 12-3p if you're as white as Emperor Palpatine and you live in Miami), and since we're still in winter this is a good time to do this. moisturize afterwards * let your beard/stubble grow. I'm mixed (black & white) so this is my bias, but in addition to the last bullet point all of my facial bumps cleared up when I le source, 2024 ↗

I did a drop in at Atos in Miami last week, their website said I had to rent their white gi and rash guard for a total of $35 plus the drop in fee. I get there I ask him if my rash guard and black gi are okay he says “eh we usually wear white, but it’s okay don’t worry about it!” That’s the BJJ community I love. Not this you have to wear our brand shit. source, 2023 ↗

Found this thread because someone mentioned it in a more recent post. I'm a blackbelt that trains at SBG Atlanta. I arrived to the Atlanta area circa 2020 and I am a paying member and not a coach or anything so fairly unbiased. * They do make new people run through a fundamentals curriculum before they're allowed to spar, but AFAIK that only applies to new white belts. You can hop in the intermediate+ classes as a blue belt and up for sure. * Yeah they have a drop-in fee, but so do most organized gyms in major cities. IDK how that relates to anything "culty". I meant to mention the two white gis are bamboo. The Miami Vice is in my top three favorite gis made of all time, I will miss it and be looking to get a new one in my new size. source, 2018 ↗

Nice write-up thanks. I will be in Miami next week and while I had a great but gruelling experience at the main fight sports gym a couple of months ago, the falls is closer to my house. I get nervous as a one-stripe white belt dropping in at new places. source, 2015 ↗
