>So, I hired a team of overseas contractors Damn, now that's commitment! I love the idea of this project, so kudos for taking a shot at it! It looks pretty good for Chicago proper, but there are a lot of missing open mats in the area, especially in the near suburbs of Chicago. One of the most notable, Serafin BJJ in Evanston is missing for example. Also missing is Progression BJJ in Indian Head Park. Just a couple examples off the top of my head, but I know there are a lot more than currently being displayed. Also, the abbreviation for Illinois should be IL or il for lowercase, and is cu source, 2025 ↗

Good luck man Chicago is literally the worst MMA/Muay Thai gyms than anywhere I have ever seen. The level is ridiculously low they all do terrible when fighting outside Chicago. And a lot of places masquerade as a "real fighting" gym but they just do fitness and do sloppy sparring. Thankfully I left this dump Chicago MMA is ok it's just really small. The striking there is really low level. They have good jiu Jitsu but that's about it source, 2025 ↗

I’m a brown belt in BJJ and (so I’ve been told) not a shitty judoka. I’ve had the extreme fortune of training with top level US players and olympians in the like decade I’ve been training judo, BJJ, and wrestling. US judo is in a bad spot. Nearly all recent success has been in spite of and not because of USA Judo (the “main” governing body). There are 3 major governing bodies in the US and none really get along (USJF, USJA, USA Judo). Athlete support is nearly non-existent. Most US judo clubs teach in an incredibly inefficient way and don’t have very high level instruction. There are usually source, 2024 ↗

I’m all over the place atm, what area of Chicago you in, I always recommend the closest gym to you, you don’t want to travel a hour to class. First class is always free everywhere. Lots of great schools in Chicago. If you in Lincoln Park, then go to supreme Jiu jitsu, downtown go to downtown Jiu jitsu club, Lincoln square would be team Redzovic, Nile’s is top level mma, Norridge is Stronghold, other great schools is TDC mma, ChicagoMma, All Star Jiu Jitsu in Lombard. 10th planet is great too source, 2024 ↗

You captured my intentions perfectly! I want to improve and test myself. What I mean by not wanting to be a winner is that I don't intend to train to get to an ADCC champion level. Thanks for your advice. source, 2017 ↗

I'm not going to explain it, mainly 'cause i'm not well versed enough to do so effectively myself. There are various breakdowns of his techniques online. Some would be easy enough to find on youtube. But i say it should be obvious to see this because it takes more than just weight to win a fight at the highest level. Royce Gracie has proven that. And are you really gonna deny that he is a tremendous wrestler? That there is no technique in his ground game? Lasty - so i don't come off as a Lesnar nuthugger - I seriously dislike this guy and was disappointed when Fedor didn't sign as i was loo source, 2009 ↗

Your post is incorrect. He has displayed some high level techniques, as well as his great speed and agility. All off these things have contributed to his run to the title at least as much as his sheer size and strength. This should be obvious. source, 2009 ↗
