Try judo- totally different mindset or Greco -Roman? When I started ar Rickson's school- it was in West Los Angeles behind a Krause's Sofa on Pico- some guy asked me what I'd trained in. After I told him he said "a pity you wasted all that time." Funny how my black in judo trumped his bjj blue belt. I had a white as this was not a judo school- new style, new rules so I'm the low man here. I have never seen that in judo and several times in bjj. Granted I'm 1 guy in a highly limited exposure but I've heard others with the same complaint. source, 2023 ↗

The landlord fixes pipes to your apartment complex , yes it’s expensive here but most of my tenants here live here because there is a solid reason ie kid goes to a local high school and is getting recruited to a d- 1 school , other tenants single mom , daughter is at usc masters program , tenant is a super old man who is just waiting for his time . There are numerous opportunities here in this city . I honestly felt like moving to the Central Valley and why ? Cheap and clean , but I could not find a competitive enough Jiu jitsu school . It totally is, but with traffic it's pretty far from Hollywood. LA is not like other cities, what may be only 20 miles could easily take you 2 hours to make an evening class and public transportation won't help you with that. source, 2012 ↗
