I’m so sorry that happened to you. I’m glad you’re thinking about ways to stay safer and empower yourself through self-defense. I got attacked by a random guy on the street and started taking Jiu-Jitsu classes, specifically for women’s self defense. Even after a few classes I felt more confident in my ability to defend myself. The school I go to is the Gracie Academy in West Seattle. You learn the 15 most common attacks women face and how to escape, plus some really cool submissions. They do a 10 day free trial, so you can check it out with no pressure to sign up. I highly recommend to all wom source, 2023 ↗

positive

Combat Arts Academy in west seattle has a great women's program but may lack on the intensity you may be used to from Atos. (DM and I'll give more info on this) It's a little bit of a drive from West Seattle but Sleeper Jiu Jitsu is top notch. Cindy Hales, the owner and black belt instructor, is old school in the best ways. They have a great Sunday open mat I highly recommend. source, 2023 ↗

Combat Arts Academy in west Seattle. I haven’t trained there in a while but strong women’s program (woman owned gym). Sleeper Jiu Jitsu is another great woman owned academy in Lynwood. Cindy is a Jiu Jitsu OG a great instructor. source, 2022 ↗
