Thankfully Brazil was smart enough to bar Bolsonaro from running from office until 2030 after his coup attempt. Something the US should learn from. I'll see if I can find the article later today but during the US election/ Covid bullshit there was a Renzo affiliate owner wearing a Renzo shirt leading the charge at one of the rallies. If anyone is interested in fascist free jiu jitsu in New York, shoot me a DM. source, 2024 ↗

Well yes. I have a gym up the street from me that has like 3 classes a week. I obviously didn't pick that one. But there's a bigger school near me that's impossible to get to for me in any consistent manner. I picked a good community that's an easy commute. source, 2022 ↗

I train at Renzo Gracie Philly. Our head instructor is Daniel Gracie, Renzo's Cousin. I say the above to say, if Renzo has trained all his black belts the way he has trained Daniel, then Renzo's is the way to go. Daniel is the best teacher I've met in the last 3 years. He pays so much attention to details and knows so much and understands the new "games/positions" very well. His success with Paul Felder and Jonavin Webb is not by accident. I'm a bigger guy in weight, average or short in height (5'8). On the first day the academy opened 3 years ago, we had a good mix of folks raging from s source, 2016 ↗

Renzo is there a lot, but he doesn't teach that often. Still, if you meet him, he'll make you feel like a long lost best friend and you'll be smiling for hours. I say it depends on what you're looking to learn. If Danaher fascinates you, go to Renzo's. source, 2016 ↗

If you want to go to Marcelo's for Marcelo, email in advance, they will tell you when he is teaching. They get asked *all the time*. Not sure about Renzo, but I know Danaher teaches regularly and is coming back from his surgery. source, 2016 ↗

by Gracie Academy in New York, do you mean Renzo Gracie Academy? Just about all of his affiliate schools are run by black belts with a few brown belts running schools. source, 2015 ↗

Anything other than that guy. What's the gym? Did you contact the Gracie Academy and inform them that one of their members, or former members is presenting himself as a black belt? Sadly, it could be that the guy is a black belt in something else. It wouldn't be the first time someone wore a black belt from a different TMA when they taught BJJ. Or just flat out lied. source, 2015 ↗

I would go to New York and alternate between Renzo Gracie Academy for John Danaher and Marcelo Garcia's Academy for Marcelo Garcia. I'd do that for a month. Then I'd go to California for a week to smoke that good ganja shit and spend all day on the beach. In other words, I'd go to 10th Planet. source, 2015 ↗
