Bourne is the OG for improvised weapons. The OG for infiltration assassinations in modern cinema. He put himself on the boat, got in the Russian politicians room in Berlin, got into the CIA senior agent's office, was one rooftop away from the the upper windows and watching through a rifle scope of a CIA operation. He is the OG assassin. He literally goes where he wants despite any forms of resistance. He's the OG "holy shit.... it's THAT GUY" guy. Remember the whole "Jesus christ, that's Jason Bourne" Yeah he was basically the bogeyman before the bogeyman. He's killed people with books, magaz source, 2024 ↗

The jiu jitsu community is often very close due to struggle hugging. Wednesday Munch at Castle if into BDSM, here you will probably also find people into Dungeons and Dragons so maybe you can find a group to join a campaign. Check out local Taverns if interested in LARPing. Hasenheide in Summer for jam sessions. I feel like everybody in Berlin goes climbing, maybe you can find a group associated with that? source, 2024 ↗

Post by egora44 -- I (24M, Dublin) am set to graduate with a Computer Science degree next Spring, and I'd like to move to either Amsterdam or Berlin. I have one software engineering internship under my belt. My primary hobbies are photography, reading, DJing/clubbing, and BJJ. I don't know Dutch nor German but I'm willing to learn. I have visited both cities and enjoyed them both immensely, for different reasons. I will list some particular pros I enjoy in both cities: Amsterdam \\- I have some good friends here \\- Cycling infrastructure \\- General infrastructure feels more modern, di source, 2023 ↗

TL;dr 1. Maximal Avoidance 2. Run (stay in shape) 3. Learn serious fighting I've lived in Berlin Neukölln for over twenty years and I had TWO altercations where it got a bit messy. I do not want to discredit OP with this but express the easiest and best method of self-defense in this case: avoidance. If you don't have to go to dangerous areas, don't. If you don't have to take that street, don't. Always be on the lookout. Cross the street if you see a suspicious group ahead. If you don't really know how to fight and quickly demonstrate that at least one or two of the group might get badly hu source, 2023 ↗

I was just writing in another thread about this—there’s a decently large Brazilian community in Berlin. They are incredibly friendly. I met some more or less by chance, tried to speak Portuguese with them, and they invited me out to get food and drinks almost immediately. I know very little about jiu jitsu but I’ve met several Brazilians who do it, and the sport is big enough, and Berlin is cosmopolitan enough, that I have no doubt you’d be able to find a group in Berlin to roll with. And if there are Brazilians there they’ll probably offer to hang out. Munich is more old school and posh than source, 2022 ↗

It's not that hard, Berlin is a pretty metropolitan city. >I'm signing up in Jiu jitsu and Gymnastic classes and will be going to lots of Bars...hope to make as much friends as I am going to learn. I don't really expect you to make friends in bars to be honest.. German culture is pretty socially distant (reserved, not preserved), that has nothing to do with you being Egyptian. The Jiu Jitsu classes and Gymnastic classes sound like a good idea and might lead to a group drink or something. You're only there for 2 months, why do you want to make friends so eagerly? What are you doing for source, 2017 ↗

Cool! Anecdote: My advisor who is now a famous scientist was living in the poor part of West Berlin in the 40s and 50s. When he was about 12, he was regularly picked on by this group of bigger boys of the same age. He found a Judo or Jiu Jitsu book, read up, and learned one throw. When they confronted him the next time, he threw the biggest boy. They followed him around as their new group leader from then on. He couldn't get rid of them! source, 2014 ↗
