>1) I mean it means something. It means that at least some basic techniques can work. Like someone once said. A punch is a punch and a kick is a kick. If the story is true and they were successful in those kickboxing matches. At least the techniques they had are decent (mind you the base of the style does consist of Sanda as whose techniques are good) It really doesn't. It's so incredibly vague that it could mean anything, and that's even if we assume it's true - which we really have no reason to do so; anybody can start an obscure style and make whatever claims they like. Bro, love the write up, clean, honest and real. Thank you very much. 38M Chinese guy from California, I visited Oahu two years ago for a week and loved it to death. I’m a closeted redneck in the SF Bay Area and you are 100% right about the local vibe that it’s blue on paper but people are redneck scrappy. My local friends took me out and there was a gun shop next to this supermarket and I went in and couldn’t believe it. Gen 5 clocks, standard capacity magazines beyond 10 rounds. Ammo. Accessories. California has inferior gun rights to Hawaii. It blew my mind. Cali and Massachusetts k source, 2024 ↗

Claimed to be a brown belt in BJJ but once you saw his training footage it was clear that he didn't even know how to roll like a white belt. His profile picture also screamed McDojo vibes Singapore's MMA scene is really small, so everyone knows everyone. My coach knows one of the lawyers involved in the case from his army days. I recently visited the main Evolve gym in Singapore, holy shit - the bathrooms were insane. I'm talking what seemed like 20 odd individual, tiled, private shower spaces with tons of room, really high quality body soap and shampoo dispensers, and just everything in the changing room was like a 5 star hotel.. 15 years doing BJJ and I've never seen anything like it. I'm used to a bench and maybe a water fountain if I'm lucky. Super impressive. source, 2023 ↗

You don’t really have any knowledge on wrestling and mma do you? You got a lot of stuff wrong. I mean the simple answer is without a gi lower body takedowns are higher percentage than upper body takedowns. This is why in every rule set with Gi and no Gi you see an increase in upper body takedowns for Gi when comapred to no Gi. Not saying they don’t work but the Gi objectively gives more leverage for upper body throws and can also be used to prevent someone from going low and taking shots into the legs. It makes sense get rid of the Gi more people shoot on legs because it is easier. Your a source, 2023 ↗

**OHP Day** * Kettlebell swings - 40x3x15 * OHP (ss w/chin-ups) - 185x5, [235x4](https://streamable.com/idjj0t), 215x5, 205x5, 195x5 * Close grip bench (ss w/band pull-aparts) - 225x8,8,5,5,5 * BJJ (planned) I was not expecting much out of this workout. My entire body hurt from my weekend workouts and yesterday was brutal for work (9hrs on the floor troubleshooting issues followed by 3hrs of meetings in the evening with my India and Singapore teams). But I tried out a ‘new’ warmup (KB swings) and surprised myself by hitting 4 on my 235lb set. /u/Astringofnumbers1234 - this old, fat guy was source, 2023 ↗

Hi fellow BJJ'er :) I think you raise some great points. I completely agree within the jiu jitsu community itself TM seems to be less of an issue. I also see some benefit to making BJJ more available to women, even if just from a basic self-defense perspective to start. I could see this helping to empower women and help close the gender gap. (I know it's empowered me) With this aim in mind, I'd like to start teaching basic self-defense classes at our local vegan animal sanctuary, with a focus on BJJ and Kenpo. (Available to everyone) The conversation around TM is a complex one. The source, 2019 ↗

6. I will not be too soft for the sport. Seriously, I'm all for training safely, but sometimes a little intensity is needed. Sometimes you gotta agree with your partner to go higher than 30-40% power. Honestly, I don't even know what to do at 30-40% power, but I'm also really small so maybe the big guys have to dial it back that much? Sure, most of us need to go to work the next day. But that doesn't mean that we need to flow roll exclusively. Try to take my head off, and I'll try for yours, and we can both leave happy, if a little bruised. It's a combat sport.
