I'll keep it objective: Fight Sports is a competition school with a lot of high level competitors. That being said the level of Jiu Jitsu is high and you can expect a lot of the instructors to be high level and technical as well. The issue - Cyborg has a bad reputation in this sport after the incident involving him covering up for and letting a known child predator continue to work in his gym. Second, there have been rumours of bad practices in the gym and this is why a lot of his black belts left (Leon Barrocas, one of his black belts branched out and gave up the affiliation. Just got an adapter for my phone, so I'm trying to get into DJ role because I'm tired of Jocko speeches (seriously) and "Jiu Jitsu" rap song the other guy is playing. Last time I played "Glam rock workout" autogenerated list from Spotify - felt that it was ok. Especially that it started with "Do you really wanna taste it". Eventually want to play more electronic music like Daft Punk, Miami Horror, Clozee, Olivier Koletzki. But these need to be guaranteed to be high tempo. But for now it will be rock/nu metal to build trust in my selections. source, 2023 ↗

Those legs are looking like tree trunks too lol. —EDIT— Remembered this recent article: [“Tua appears bigger and stronger and no, there is no reason to panic about this. Tua intentionally bulked up and strengthened his neck and it looks like his legs and chest, too.”](https://www.palmbeachpost.com/story/sports/nfl/2023/05/26/miami-dolphins-quarterback-tua-tagovailoa-appears-bigger-and-is-training-jiu-jitsu/70261361007/#) source, 2023 ↗

Saw this. I feel like one of the things I've seen in Jiu Jitsu is how two faced people can be. It happens everywhere, but the way I've seen it happen in the BJJ community is a huge learning for me - the way people can say one thing and then just do the complete opposite. The female gym manager this girl talks about runs an ig page which is supposed to highlight female empowerment and being a strong independent woman. First chance for her to show it off and she fumbles. Same with the other black belts in that gym. One of them is that dude who makes stupid ass reels. The dumb kind where you source, 2023 ↗

This is pretty awesome propaganda for BJJ. >“It is a misconception,” Garcia says, “that this is a sport for supermen. Who the heck thinks that? He may as well have said, "It's a misconception that all BJJ guys are all good looking, charming and rich." >It’s quite hard to get injured in jiu-jitsu: it’s unlikely to happen by accident. Pedro Garcia has never had an injury, in 16 years. Yeah, if you define "injured" as staying over night in a hospital. > it reads like the grand tour of the international playboy: Miami, Rio de Janeiro, source, 2023 ↗

Found this thread because someone mentioned it in a more recent post. I'm a blackbelt that trains at SBG Atlanta. I arrived to the Atlanta area circa 2020 and I am a paying member and not a coach or anything so fairly unbiased. * They do make new people run through a fundamentals curriculum before they're allowed to spar, but AFAIK that only applies to new white belts. You can hop in the intermediate+ classes as a blue belt and up for sure. * Yeah they have a drop-in fee, but so do most organized gyms in major cities. IDK how that relates to anything "culty". In my experience it usually get source, 2023 ↗

UFC is a lot more than throwing punches. My brother is a UFC fighter and he specializes in wrestling, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Kung Fu, Muay Thai, MMA, and Boxing. UFC is alot harder than people think. It’s not just throwing punches or kicks. And only 1% people get into it. She should do boxing cause I notice BlueFace has been having her train with him/his coach. If she got serious she wouldn’t do too bad. But fighting takes ALOT of dedication. I only do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and tried doing MMA with a girl down here in Miami and that shit is no cake walk. Plus, you can’t smoke marijuana or drink wh source, 2022 ↗

Nice write-up thanks. I will be in Miami next week and while I had a great but gruelling experience at the main fight sports gym a couple of months ago, the falls is closer to my house. I get nervous as a one-stripe white belt dropping in at new places. source, 2015 ↗
