Howdy Bay Area Reddit! I’m Micha—owner and lead instructor at Forge Krav Maga in San Francisco. I wanted to jump in on all the self-defense threads I’ve seen lately with some perspective and resources for anyone thinking about training. **Krav Maga—at least at Forge—is all about practical self-defense.** We believe in pressure-testing, a no ego environment, and a welcoming, supportive community. We train for real-world scenarios: everything from BART/MUNI commutes to common assault and weapon threats. Our curriculum blends Krav Maga with BJJ, boxing, kickboxing, and Filipino Kali becau source, 2025 ↗

The CCSF Judo/BJJ classes haven’t returned to in person meeting yet. Maybe Spring next year. Don’t know anything about their Taekwondo classes since I have never taken any. Since you are in Daly City you should look at Eskabo Daan, they teach Filipino Martial Arts. They had to close down their San Francisco location so I no longer take classes with them. I am currently taking Muay Thai at Woodenman. I only started a few weeks ago but I like their instructors and they have a good facility (newer equipment and space compared to others). source, 2021 ↗
