Before influencers were a big thing, the UFC was heavily invested in courting Dubai money. Some of the royal family there were already really interested in submission grappling/brazilian jiu-jitsu tournaments, and the UFC started having a few big events there. As a Canadian, I don’t plan to leave Dubai to go back to Canada. My quality of life here is miles ahead: - high income - Dubai summer heat > Canadian winter cold - super safe (more important when you have a family) - easy to travel to Europe and Asia - I have access to all my hobbies (eg jiu jitsu, off road biking, kite surfing, etc), and my kids get access to a lot more - super diverse friends circle and colleagues - this place keeps growing, with a bunch of new things to do every year I would only choose to live in Canada if I needed to rely on the social system, and if I felt the s source, 2021 ↗
