I’d recommend onda jiu jitsu. Matt is very high level, I trained with him in Sydney a lot. And they have classes where it is open drilling and rolling (and I wouldn’t be surprised if people jumped straight into rounds) source, 2025 ↗

Hey mate im a young aussie wrestler. Gonna be honest the wrestling scene in aus is terrible. their are very few tournaments and the ones that are their are usually filled with very high level competitiors, except for small interclubs. The good thing is though i think sydney has some high level clubs or organisations centered around wrestling, i remember seeing it on insta. I think it would be more realistic to train wrestling and bjj/nobjj and do more bjj comps and aim for getting a high level in bjj. source, 2024 ↗

19 too late to start grappling competitively? been playing ball sports and running track basically my whole life, always liked watching boxing and MMA but never liked the idea of getting hit on/hitting the head, but since high school I got introduced to no-gi BJJ/freestyle wrestling through some workshops at uni, and now seriously considering starting, at least for the sake of learning some self defense and keeping a high level of fitness. but for every sport i've played, i'm aware starting after childhood/high school will probably cut off the possibility of ever competing at a decent level source, 2024 ↗

Same BS at the local Jiu jitsu academy in Sydney. They allow dogs and kids will be training and the dogs just randomly run across the mats and bark the kids. Like FFS leave your dog at home or tie it up outside. The risk of a dog attack or just germs in general causing a staph infection is HIGH. Why risk it .... source, 2024 ↗

Sydney Sweeney has trained in MMA since she was 14, I assume more recreationally since she finished high school but she has talked about competing and winning wrestling tournaments in high school Kate Upton has been doing BJJ for a few years now as well They're my 2 options, and they're both in my top 10 favourites so the fact that they can both wrestle too is the icing on the cake for my fantasies 🥰 source, 2024 ↗

Sydney at 18 years old would beat you, since she was winning high school tournaments against trained male opponents at that time. If she has kept herself sharp since then, then she should beat you now but I'm not sure if she has been consistently training MMA for a while. Regardless of that she would still cause you issues, but if she's rusty then you have a chance of beating her. Demi Lovato fucks you up though lol. I think those stats of hers are outdated because firstly she has slimmed down a lot and is about 130-140lbs now, secondly she got her BJJ purple belt earlier this year. She is no source, 2023 ↗

Three gyms stand out to me in Sydney, the first would be Open Sparring HQ. It's a gym that hosts a bunch of amatuer tourneys that attract talent from around the country in muay thai, BJJ and mma. Modern facilities and seems friendly towards beginners The second would be Igor mma, no frills hard-core mma gym with a team of UFC fighters and a bunch of amatuer fighters The third would be SBG Australia which is a global chain of mma gyms that's proven to train high level mma talent with professionals making it the UFC source, 2023 ↗

If you can make it out to Auburn and train at Sydney Wrestling Academy. They’ve also got jiu jitsu there and some very high level (objectively) guys teaching source, 2023 ↗
