Euros is great fun and the one person I know who did it as their first comp had a blast, so I don't think you're making a mistake. In terms of level, I think it's a matter of consistency more than anything else. I've competed at Opens, Euros and Masters World (very much as a hobbyist). I've met top competitors in my division in small local comps (people who have gone on to win Euros / Pan Am and medal in Masters Worlds). But in a small local comp there might be one of those guys, another couple of people taking it fairly seriously as hobbyists, a few not so seriously, someone who competes onc source, 2024 โ

I do BJJ full time - 19 yr old blue belt. tbh Unless the goal is for you to win worlds, training full time is pretty overrated imo. You're doing 30-40 hrs a week of physical work and don't have much time to do anything else. I would recommend going somewhere that has a lot of fun things to do like NYC, Thailand, Bali, Sydney, Lisbon etc, training for like 3/4 hrs a day and then going out and exploring the city or doing whatever you find fun source, 2021 โ
