What Reddit says about Gracie Lisboa

I'm not aware of any exclusively NoGi school in Lisbon. Most BJJ schools will have some NoGi classes on their schedule though not everyday I suppose. Try Gracie Lisboa, near Alameda Afonso Henriques, they usually have 4 NoGi classes per week, but I think for this month they only have 3. source, 2024 ↗

Well as I can see from the instagram they seems to enforce the GB uniform rule so you might have to buy their equipment to train. I train in Portugal too and it isn't a Gracie Barra gym but they also expect you to pay for graduation so I expect this Gracie Barra school will too. Aside from that you need to see for yourself if their training methods are too your liking and if you enjoy the people there and are willing to pay the costs. source, 2023 ↗

Hi, I'm just back from a month in Spain. I trained in a few places, but none that you mentioned. I went to SA fight company in Bilbao, I liked that place. My favourite place was in Cambrils, Renzo Gracie Spain. source, 2022 ↗

I'm training in Gracie Lisboa and we got nice atmosphere. Small gym, really friendly people. Prof. João Santos has plenty off experience from competing. Majority of practitioners are white belts thou there's usually three black belts instructing small group (>15). source, 2016 ↗

Wait. You entered a BJJ competition and lost by decision on the first round? (just so you know I'm not spilling nonsense, I'm a blue belt for Gracie Barra under Alex Machado in Lisbon, compete a lot and also fight MMA). In BJJ competitions, first of all, there are NO ROUNDS. You have 5 or 7 minute fights, usually. Some competitions have 10 or 11 min fights, depend on belt rank. Also, you CAN'T lose by decision. You either lose by tapping out, or you lose by points. (edit: points are awarded for takedowns, passing guard, sweeps and dominant positions like mount, back mount or knee on belly. source, 2014 ↗
