Gracie Jiu Jitsu La Mesa

I know Gracie university is different from Gracie Humaita and Gracie Barra. I don’t know which direction you were driving from but the.Gracie jiu-jitsu gym in San Diego, Gracie South Bay (it’s a Humaita) gym was a place. I really really enjoyed going one week when I was in town. I personally clicked with their instructors and really liked the classes. Just a thought. source, 2025 ↗

Depends what you’re looking for more, vacation to an exotic country or jiu jitsu training. You could go to Austin which has B team (Craig Jones et al) , New Wave (Danaher), and other good schools, Fight Factory I think is where the Tacketts train? Or San Diego which is Andre Galvao’s Atos headquarters, or Costa Mesa near LA for Art of Jiu Jitsu (Mendes bros). If you want mostly a cool vacation plus BJJ I would probably go Thailand or Bali. source, 2025 ↗

10th planet San Diego is close to Serra Mesa and has excellent Nogi Jiu Jitsu, judo/wrestling and has a cool, friendly and supporting atmosphere.   I’ve trained in Florida and California gyms for over 15 years and SD 10th planet is as good as it gets. source, 2025 ↗

California is a huge state with lots of great Jiu Jitsu. Be sure you narrow down where you want to go. For example, from San Diego (Atos, Legion) to LA (Gracie Barra,10P HQ) is at least an hour and a half drive. Then there’s a bunch of training in the Bay Area. LA to SF is at least a 6 hour drive, but you get Ralph Gracie HQ. SF to San Jose is around an hour, but that takes you to Heroes Martial Arts with Gumby, or Guerrilla with Matt Darcy. Drive an hour inland to Pleasanton, and you get Dave Camarillo. Drive 2 hours from there to Sacramento and you get Marcos Torregosa and Cassio Werneck. source, 2024 ↗

When I was in elementary school I went to soccer camp each year run by the #1 US soccer team, the San Diego Soccers. They would play us at the end of each camp and completely crush us and I loved every minute of it. I was really good at defense, and basically could handle any kid my age but the Soccers could just cut through me like I wasn't there, it was amazing. Same thing as rolling with a last-name Gracie in BJJ when they're actually trying. It's night and day different from your usual roll or when they're going easy on you. source, 2024 ↗
