[Man claims UFC Gym S'pore allegedly hired 'fake' brown belt BJJ coach, gym says he'll be hearing from "lawyer soon"](https://mothership.sg/2019/10/ufc-gym-singapore-coach/) [UFC GYM members are up in arms after City Square outlet shuts with no refunds or prior notice](https://wakeup.sg/ufc-city-square/) Yeah these guys are not really the most reliable. Hope they are not able to open any other businesses anymore source, 2023 ↗

I recently visited the main Evolve gym in Singapore, holy shit - the bathrooms were insane. I'm talking what seemed like 20 odd individual, tiled, private shower spaces with tons of room, really high quality body soap and shampoo dispensers, and just everything in the changing room was like a 5 star hotel.. 15 years doing BJJ and I've never seen anything like it. I'm used to a bench and maybe a water fountain if I'm lucky. Super impressive. source, 2023 ↗

I came here to say this. I've travelled all around the world and from the poorest to the wealthiest of countries, they all have their own version of bogans, from Turkey to Switzerland, India to Singapore. u/noleafclover777 you specifically mention Switzerland or Austria, it's honestly no different to Australia. You get the same young self entitled, anti-intellectual, testosterone filled dickheads there as you do everywhere else in the world. It sounds like you need to move out of the city or change your social setting. Try joining a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu club or some other hobby where source, 2021 ↗

For the uninitiated: Ben Askren is a very talented grappler and held an undefeated record in One FC (Singapore's version of UFC). When he moved to the UFC, he was considered a "boom or bust" fighter since he was viewed as untested. He definitely boomed on his first fight with a rollercoaster, yet controversial, win, but busted spectacularly on his second fight by being knocked out within the first 5 seconds of the fight. He is currently retired. Dillon Danis is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt who trained under one of the greatest (and sweetest) BJJ practioners, Marcelo Garcia. He then went source, 2020 ↗

For those without FB >Victory in Singapore! Garry Tonon extended his unbeaten record in MMA here in Singapore tonight with a brilliant fifty five second victory in the first round. Mr Tonon wanted to give recognition to our roots in the sport of submission grappling and win via one of our signature methods - leg lock. Drawing on his exceptional knowledge of our leg locking system he latched on to a very tight ashi garami from an initial takedown attempt and switched to a stronger breaking position - a variation of outside ashi garami - to quickly apply joint breaking pressure that ended th source, 2019 ↗

Gomi is on a bad run in the UFC, fighting this weekend on the Singapore card prelims. Ralph Gracie was undefeated 6-0 coming into this fight. Afterwards he retired from MMA. Ralph was also BJ Penn's coach, teaching him jiu-jitsu when Penn first arrived in California and eventually giving him his purple belt. Gomi had recently lost to BJ just a few months before this fight, so I suppose it was a small measure of revenge for him. source, 2017 ↗
