Fighters coach and compete because they are not the owner/main coach running the gym. The gym in Dagestan has hundreds of students already in training. They have rosters in every MMA organization. Not that they are starting their own huge promotion and signing the top UFC athletes, but they are assembling small teams of athletes to make it to the UFC to represent them if that makes sense. If you havent heard of Team KHK, its owned by a Bahraini Royal Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, where the KHK comes from, and it was founded in 2015 and some of the fighters it signed back then included Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Frenkie Edgar. I have competed. In jiu-jitsu and in mma. My former coach fought for ONE and is now their brand ambassador. One of my friends is currently fighting for ONE, others fight on the South East Asian circuit. I myself competed in smokers and as an amateur on the Pakistani circuit and once as a pro. I have helped my training partners cut weight and I have written for mma websites. Ive trained with fighters in Pakistan and Dubai. I love this sport and Im not speaking from a place of ignorance. And in my 10 years of training, I havent heard any fighter or coach talk the way Alvey does. EDIT: You know source, 2020 ↗
