It's a good shout - I've actually started taking my son to Carpe Diem, the only thing that stopped me from looking more closely was that they seemed a little light on the NG classes. If I was closer, Singapore SG would be ideal as I'd be happy to trade the MT for a wider range of grappling options that they have. I am guessing same here in Singapore. I don’t know how popular it is as a school sport now, as I think most judokas here are students but recreationally, it seems more people, in general, are taking up MMA memberships which offer unlimited classes of Muay Thai, Boxing, Nogi BJJ, BJJ etc… Most MMA clubs don’t offer Judo in their mix, sadly. I think its tough. There are a number of gyms in Singapore with Evolve being the strongest and most powerful. I have seen Evolve open up academy locations just to take out competitors in the area. Opened up next to FAMA and also opened up a gym right by a former Evolve instructor just to break them. source, 2022 ↗

Gracie jiu jitsu actually opened a branch in singapore, taught by one of their approved instructors. Been meaning to try it out but then covid hit (in case you didnt know the gracies are the one who invented bjj). They have self defense, competitive and special classes for women only if im not wrong source, 2020 ↗

True that. Create a list of everything you’ve been mildly interested in and take some classes. Whatever it is there’s almost definitely going to be a class for it, especially in a city like Melbourne. When I moved to Melbourne I knew no one, started taking futsal classes every Saturday (I sucked), met some people and started playing on teams with them twice a week. When I moved to Singapore it was boxing, then Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and now I live in Bali it’s still BJJ - I’m introverted as fuck but I’m always meeting new people and I’ve made some really good friends when moving to cities whe source, 2019 ↗
