It’s so sad that you feel so intimidated. It’s very similar here in Texas. It’s Trump country and they openly threaten anyone who disagrees with them. They’ll cry about teenagers taking their signs down but they’ll physically harass or try to intimidate anyone democratic. You should see what the NextDoor for our area looks like. Luckily I’m a democrat with guns and my whole family attends BJJ. So they can come on. I feel very alone out here with my political views but I won’t allow anyone to intimidate me into silence. I'm sticking with folks who were international caliber for the most part: So I was absurdly lucky in that I walked into an elite judo dojo from the first day, and had a lot of high-level exposure more or less from the first day. All of my ranks in judo are under Jimmy Pedro and his father. The Pedros gave me my judo. I've joked when explaining my judo that I am a defective clone of my coach, with the added bonus of a guard pull. I trained with all of the Olympians they had come through between 2004 and 2016. You have no idea what you're talking about. The Yamasaki family is one of the biggest names in Judo in Brazil. In the 1950's Mario's father and uncle trained under Ogawa who started Brazil's first Judo school nearly 80 years ago with Mitsuyo Maeda (who is credited with bringing Judo to Brazil from Japan). His uncle was an Olympic Judo referee for nearly 30 years and his brother won the Brazilian national championship, the Pan Am championship, and went on to be an Olympian in Judo.
