Not all situations are solved with weapons. But if the situation is violence a weapon is typically much better. There might be times lethal force isn’t justified so you would have to resort to strikes. In most states however, many bjj techniques are equated to lethal force and would require the same justification (whereas strikes are justified by a lower standard)… so if lethal force is an option the weapon is a much better choice than either fighting style source, 2025 ↗
