No randori doesn't seem to appear in JJJ schools in UK. Open to being corrected however, this is just my observation. There's a long tradition of JJJ particularly in port cities like Liverpool, Southampton, and Glasgow etc. It's more, here is a syllabus of techniques, do you have a decent chance of executing these under pressure, if so pass exam (belt grading) or fail. Obviously a lot of it is all the same throws you'd see in Judo and maybe BJJ. But from a punch, strike, grab or kick. Focus is on the martial art aspect and self defence rather than the sport. It's for this reason I really ra source, 2025 ↗

Max 21 years old 6'10 465lbs No known "super"powers but is freakishly strong and fast considering he gained all of this naturally A master in several martial arts like Boxing, Lethwei, Sambo and BJJ Also very intelligent when it comes to psychology and perception as well as problem solving (could probably figure out Batman's identity in less than 2 months if he tried) Probably 7/10 in attractiveness (would look like the Doom Guy in a more realistic art style) but his attire and imposing figure at 6'10 usually scares women off more than it attracts them Very low class, pretty much hated/feared source, 2025 ↗

I'm sorry about your situation - I have many advantages you do not and my mental health is still poor. So kudos to you for being so resilient. You write quite beautifully, cogently. What about journalism or writing some pieces online on Quora, Medium etc and think about getting into that? Not as your main job as it's precarious but just something to do/side hustle. Have you considered getting physically fit, or picking up a martial art? Things like BJJ or boxing always come with a community. Platonic friendships being hypergamous is so socially astute! I think you can increase your hypergamy source, 2024 ↗

I would say MMA is probably what you want if you live in the West. While it may be called "mixed martial arts," in practice it is becoming a martial art in its own right. Most "MMA," gyms teach a grappling that is a blend of scholastic wrestling and BJJ. The striking draws heavily from Muay Thai, but the stance resembles old London Prize Ring boxing. source, 2024 ↗

Not sure of your schedule or physical availability, but I’ve found that training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to be transformative. Aside from marrying my wife, starting Jiu Jitsu was the best decision I ever made. It’s got numerous benefits, some of which include: 1. It’s amazing exercise. Great for cardio, mobility, and to some degree strength. 2. Cognitive benefits. I love that I learn something new at every class, and the art encourages thinking about strategy, physics, and technique on multiple levels. 3. The community is amazing. I’ve met many wonderful people in the Jiu Jitsu community. I e source, 2024 ↗

I am a bit older than most people on this sub (24) but my current friends consist of - Old University friends, Old School Friends, People I train Jiu Jitsu/MMA with, Video Game friends from Discord, Anime friends I met through Meet Up in london (one piece) & various other things. The best thing is to just do stuff. Social media is killing our youth I swear. Trying to find girls through tinder ALL day, doom scrolling Instagram and Tiktok, no more youth centres to hang out with people. Find hobbies that you think you’ll like, whether that’s martial arts, anime club, football, rugby, art clu source, 2024 ↗

To add my 2 cents, There are Brazilian Jiu jitsu gyms all around london that have a great welcoming community, and it is proven to be the most practical and strongest martial art in the world that can be applied in real life situations. Not to mention the great workouts you get too. I would advise anyone to go to Jiu jitsu over any other sport or martial art if they want to gain confidence in their ability to defend themselves or just have confidence to even ride the train! source, 2024 ↗
