Dude, 'Go to \\[hobby\\] clubs' don't work that well either. I do Salsa and BJJ. They are at reasonable hours for working people. They start around 18:30-19:00 and end at latest 20:15. I am, at times, aggressively social. I know the names of most people in class and have a small conversation. My route back home intersects a good part with some people. But I can't simply say 'Hey, do you want to grab a bite?' or 'Do you want to chill at a café for a bit?' cause the available options would be either closed, too full or McDonalds. > Have you been to Vienna? I did 6 weeks in Europe from May to mid June in 2019. I did Paris to Bruges to Amsterdam, then Berlin, Prague, Kraków, Budapest, Vienna and then Venice. I was gonna do Liverpool, Copenhagen, Athens and Rome in between but too fucking much so I skipped out on that. I used trains to travel. Paris was 3 days, that was enough for me tbh. Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Shakespeare & Sons, a day trip to Versailles were the highlights. Amsterdam I spent a week and a half, but that's because I loved the weed culture (am Canadian haha) and I love jiu jitsu so I trained at 10th Planet Amsterdam. I did feel source, 2022 ↗

So far I had the impression that McDojos were a USA thing... The best way is to find a dojo that is a member of the ÖKB, the head association for Austria. The ÖKB homepage is https://karate-austria.at/de. From there you can find the contact data and website for the association for Vienna: https://karate-austria.at/de/landesverbaende, which leads to the page https://www.karate-verband-wien.at/ which has a club finder with a map and links to homepages of clubs: https://www.karate-verband-wien.at/vereine/ You have a broad selection, they have clubs for Shotokan, Goju-Ryu, Kobudo, martial arts &a source, 2022 ↗

You don't. Source: I'm a foreigner. Been living in Vienna for about 14 years. All my friends are either coworkers or from the BJJ gym. source, 2022 ↗

Any fellow viennese BJJ practitioneers that can recommend me a gym in Vienna? There is a Roger Gracie Academy, is it good? Also I live only a few meters away where Aleksandar Rakic trains, but they do more NoGi and MMA if I'm not mistaken. source, 2021 ↗

Consider Dave Jacobs BJJ in Vienna / Tysons Corner. Its near Arlington (10 mins) and right off the metro. Both instructors wrestled in College and all of Dave's classes start with a judo portion. Also they have a great open mat on Saturdays to stop by for. http://www.therockbjj.com Nova is incredibly deep with great Jiu jitsu schools. There is talent everywhere. source, 2014 ↗
