I think there is a good bjj place called al wasl club. Never been, but I know a guy who trains there. There's also 10th planet jiu jitsu somewhere in that area, which is a great brand in the US, but never been here either. Then there's TK in media city, and the fitness / circuit classes are very nice, but the martial arts classes are very meathead style and wouldn't recommend for beginner. If you're willing to go across the highway to al Quoz, you will find what I'd consider the best gym for both the quality of training and community, Team Nogueira Dubai.
