I mean, I think the OP was just being a bit hyperbolic. Going in order: 1. The "5 star" hotels are definitely not going to be up to the standard you have in a non-developing country. That said, I stay the weekend in the Avari, Movenpick, and Pearl Continental on occasion and they're totally fine as getaways go. Like, it's not Dubai, but it's totally fine. 2. I think OP is talking about Kolachi and if they are, their friend ordered them the wrong food. Karachi is a foodies paradise and you just need to be a bit careful about what you eat.
