hello there :) in rome if you wanna train Gi stuff definitely Anacoreta jiujitsu (Luca Anacoreta is one if not the best black belt in italy imo) for no gi i would choose Nemeos bjj (Remo Cassella also a fantastic instructor) but both are high quality with a lot of competitors, very good people very good vibes. hope you have a nice time in italy! source, 2024 ↗

I’ve never trained there but the most accomplished (I think) bjj athlete in Italy is Luca Anacoreta and he teaches in Rome. Try to Google Luca anacoreta bjj. In terms of language barrier, yes the coach will teach in italian but most of the times you will be paired with a partner that speaks english and can give you a quick translation. I'm from Rome but started JJ after moving abroad. I'm planning to drop in to some gyms next time I'm back, in order of perceived quality/recommendations: -Anacoreta Jiu Jitsu (if it's not too far from where you're staying) -Roger Gracie Academy -Tribe Jiu Jitsu Roma Centro -Gracie Barra. As for Florence I can suggest you Centurion Bjj, owner has also a b&b, you can find him on fb Mario Puccioni. Milan also has big Number of gyms. In Rome go to Aeterna Jiu Jitsu, they are the largest and arguably best team there. If you can bother going to their main academy (it's very far from the centre and not well served by public transportation so it's a pain in the ass) you can find Luca Anacoreta there (he's the most accomplished Italian BB, currently invited to the next Polaris), but their other academies are also good. If you need to stay near the centre there are other, more convenient academies (Tribe and Cyclone). They are still good, with more than legit black belts, even though I am biased towards Aeterna since I used to source, 2015 ↗
