Yea. Not a ton of options for bjj. Only has one real bjj academy and it’s in their main city (Tbilisi). It’s not bad tho. Lot of people from all over the world are here for work, school, or the “digital nomad” lifestyle. There’s a few more options around the country for mma, and they all have no gi classes on some days as well. Judo is the combat sport of choice here tho. It’s really cheap and there’s almost no visa requirements. You get a year visa for free and it resets every time you exit the country, even if it’s only for 5 min. I think there is a good bjj place called al wasl club. Never been, but I know a guy who trains there. There's also 10th planet jiu jitsu somewhere in that area, which is a great brand in the US, but never been here either. Then there's TK in media city, and the fitness / circuit classes are very nice, but the martial arts classes are very meathead style and wouldn't recommend for beginner. If you're willing to go across the highway to al Quoz, you will find what I'd consider the best gym for both the quality of training and community, Team Nogueira Dubai. I've gone training in Brazil 3 times. Each time for 2 week camps with Pedro Sauer. His camp is located in his Pousada (bed&breakfast) in Petropolis, RJ. Which is an hour outside of the city of Rio (just up the mountains.) I usually go in Jan/Feb which is their summer. Rio will sometimes be 110 degrees and Petropolis will stay at like 85. Rio is a pretty crazy place to see, but it is not safe on the same levels we are accustomed to.
