If it was a private session id say go for it. But for an open class, $80? Plus you gotta wear their gi and pay $20 for it? This is why people say jiu jitsu is a cult. Im in chicago, if you came to my gym and needed a gi its free and if you wanna buy a shirt then go for it, we would appreciate the support. We had a proper judo school when I lived in Chicago so I stopped in for some lessons before an upcoming BJJ tournament. I wanted to learn a few throws from my feet if possible. It was awesome, they had these springy floors to land on and people were doing badass throws. They didn't use traditional mats, they had like trampoline-style floors. Once was enough. I had 10 years of Muay Thai and Boxing, 2 years of BJJ, and that was the hardest training I had ever done in my life. Their warmup routines were exhausting before we even go into Judo stuff. i’ll be more than happy to help you out, it all depends on where you live to tell you the truth. Brazilian jiu-jitsu gyms are pretty easy to find for the most part. The gym by me is less than five minutes away and they hold lessons basically every night with the exception for weekends. I’m lucky that my gym has been accommodating for my visual impairment needs but, if you want to educate your coaches or need some help. Definitely reach out to myself or some other individuals who practice the sport while visually impaired. They are YouTube demonstrations to help out, but, as long as you keep co source, 2024 ↗

A few things! 1 - BJJ, my jujitsu class is a great place for meeting new interesting people. 2 - Salsa! My fiancé and I are taking salsa lessons and have had a ton of fun making casual friends there 3 - Music! I’m a part time musician, and have met plenty of friends going to jams, and gigging. 4 - Rec Beach Volleyball. Plenty of fun leagues in Chicago. My friend group is doing “Players”. 5 - Cooking classes. My fiancé and I had a ton of fun meeting people at a cooking class at Wooden Spoon. 7 - Comedy!
