TL;dr 1. Maximal Avoidance 2. Run (stay in shape) 3. Learn serious fighting I've lived in Berlin Neukölln for over twenty years and I had TWO altercations where it got a bit messy. I do not want to discredit OP with this but express the easiest and best method of self-defense in this case: avoidance. If you don't have to go to dangerous areas, don't. If you don't have to take that street, don't. Always be on the lookout. Cross the street if you see a suspicious group ahead. If you don't really know how to fight and quickly demonstrate that at least one or two of the group might get badly hu source, 2023 ↗

The post was being grateful for what we do have, not what we don’t have. We are a population of 4 million, less than many of the biggest cities in Europe and have been a relatively poor and oppressed nation up until very recent. What’s the big deal with skyscrapers and beach towns? The vast majority of beach towns in Spain for example are dead 8-9 months of the year. They are nothing more than a tourist magnet, and we have plenty of them. Those high rise train stations and metros you see in Berlin, London, Paris etc are built on the foundations that are almost a couple of hundred years old. source, 2023 ↗

This is silly. Parents who let their kids behave like this don't have money for civil damages. Your kid is gonna have traumatic brain injury from this. The legal system is a joke there. The answer is to leave these cities. Don't live in 1938 Berlin and expect the legal system to fix it. MOVE to where the people don't hate you and are not trying to erase all evidence of the existence of your culture and heritage. And Never give up your guns.... I'm a Cherokee Indian, ask me how I know. Edit: get your kids into a good Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/boxing/judo/Muay Thai gym. If your kid is very emotional source, 2022 ↗

They did this in Germany. Kept saying they'd taken cities they hadn't, won battles they hadn't, and most people thought they were winning the war right up until the Soviets were invading Berlin. "Appear strong when weak, Weak when strong." let's be honest, Putins been riding horses shirtless and trying to show off his jiu jitsu moves for a long time. Everything about his persona is posturing. Guy's probably never had a genuine human connection in his entire insecure, power hungry, life. source, 2022 ↗

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu 100%. No question. Stick with it and it will build confidence, discipline and ability to defend yourself even as a smaller person. Several good schools to choose from in the area. Most notable South Jersey Brazilian Jiu jitsu (Berlin), McHugh Jiu Jitsu (Mt. Laurel), Strive Jiu Jitsu (Voorhees), and Beacon MMA and Fitness (Cherry Hill). source, 2022 ↗

I lived in Edinburgh and Berlin and now live in the Bay Area. A few thoughts on the US Europe comparisons. The US is a very inequitable society but there is no denying that if you make good money here, quality of life is very high. As soon as I arrived from Germany I went to the dentist and the dentistry is literally 25 years ahead here, as is most of the rest of the health care. There are also these idea that Americans have so few vacation days and work such long hours. I am sure many do. But not, in my experience, data scientists in San Francisco. Companies compete very heavily on quality source, 2021 ↗

I too find that teaching people the inverted Berlin BooBoo their first week to keep up with the ever evolving landscape of BJJ is the best approach. Who needs posture and positioning or any of the building blocks that got us to this point? All of that is just hooplah that the old fucks jam down our throats to help them feel less insecure. source, 2021 ↗
