I was born in Leicester, grew up in St Matthews/Highfields area and had a general bad view of living in Leicester due to the deprivation and crime I was accustomed to. I left for 11 years and I've returned buying a house in South Leicestershire area. I'm really enjoyed by time back, in comparison living in London, and Surrey. My children go to good schools, good facilities for the kids all within 5 min drive (soft play, farms, adventure playgrounds), I play football weekly, go to Jiu Jitsu, go to swimming - I don't think there's a place in the UK that is better bang for buck - this is a ve source, 2024 ↗

Racism towards Chinese/oriental people seems to be a lot more "acceptable" for lack of a better word than racism towards black or Muslim people in these days. Also where do you go to uni? Racism is much more prevalent in certain parts of the UK. I go uni in Swansea and was shocked to hear of Racism being rife. I'm from South London, my school was majority non white and so I never really heard of there being any racist incidents. My Malaysian housemate, when he first arrived in Swansea not 1 but TWO taxi drivers refused to take him to his accom because of how he looked. I also remember getting source, 2024 ↗

We moved from Brighton to BH a decade or so ago, mostly because we could get a lot more house for the same money. I needed to be able to get to Brighton and London for work, and we both go to Lewes for family stuff. BH stations get you to all those places easily. It suffers from being a heavy commuter town. A lot of people sleep here, but work and socialise elsewhere. So there's not a lot going on. For events, great pubs, nights out, you might end up having to go to Brighton etc. Bit of a vicious cycle for the town, but there we go. Outside of BH, there's some lovely country pubs, and the wa source, 2024 ↗
