You honestly can't go wrong with any of them. San Diego is deep with talent and most of the gyms are really cool with cross training at open mats.  If you are looking for a really friendly and welcoming places, based on how they treated me as a stranger. I rank Alfredo at Barum BJJ #1. Paige from Legion #2. Didn't catch their names but #3 are the folks at Villanueva / Six Blades in La Mesa. I've never had a bad experience anywhere... So wait, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is not a Martial Art? Are you arguing that only Japanese Jiu Jitsu is ? I can understand that as a coherent argument but I dont think anyone would agree that BJJ is not a Martial Art. I'm solely here to give you an idea about Luke Not sure what your job is so work is hard to describe but in general I've had supportive leadership in terms of family and the base does several events for the big holidays. Library also has stuff going on for the Littles Positives: 1. Plenty to do in Phoenix area with lots of options for kids in terms of extra curriculars. Between all sorts of sports and MMA/BJJ gyms that start as early as 4 years old. MLB Spring training (my kids love the games and there are always activities) 2. It depends on the unit/command/location. On one carrier they have jiujitsu + boxing three times a week for the crew. On Diego Garcia they turned one of the racquet ball courts over to the jiu jitsu club who rolled most of the week after 1700. In Bahrain they had a coach teach classes a few times a week, (but not sure if that ever restarted after COVID) but there are a few BJJ schools out there. When I was in the Marines there was a dude in my sister platoon that was a Marines Marine. In absolute peak physical condition, was a black belt in MCMAP (IYKYK), hobbied in BJJ off base. Right before a deployment he went down to the bar district in San Diego and ended up in a fight. Ended up getting his skull bounced off the concrete and spent an extended amount of time in the hospital. Wrestling has levels, like anything else. Your average HS wrestler isn't going to be that big of a challenge, but if you've ever rolled with a guy who has seriously competed at the college level or above, it is just different. They are, on average, stronger, faster, and don't play the "game" that BJJ guys know and understand. They also just have thousands more hours than BJJ guys, because most of them have been doing it 3-5 days per week since they were kids.
