They’re a thing in the competitive BJJ world too. You go to any big event, and everyone, myself included, has one. So useful. In mine I keep my IDs, mouth guard, money, Advil, tape, scissors to cut tape, etc. Nice to have it in front of your body, especially if you’re in, like, Las Vegas or somewhere busy. source, 2023 ↗

Against a trained fighter, yes small amounts of weight can be huge. Does he train though? If not, a world class fighter and BJJ champion like Dern would severely injure most untrained men [that are near her size like he is.](https://c8.alamy.com/comp/2HA7D04/las-vegas-nv-usa-10th-dec-2021-wesley-santos-moa-dern-santos-mackenzie-dern-at-arrivals-for-13th-annual-fighters-only-world-mma-awards-worre-studios-las-vegas-nv-december-10-2021-credit-jaeverett-collectionalamy-live-news-2HA7D04.jpg) She says he dragged her into the house...I have a hard time picturing her not escaping that or doing seve source, 2023 ↗

For those into BJJ, I bumped into Eddie Bravo in Las Vegas. He does podcasts with Joe Rogan every so often. He was very sound and gave me a fist bump. source, 2023 ↗

The ruleset needs to change. I know you do BJJ, I am sure you could come up with some good ideas. You get 0 points for a takedown into turtle...idk how that makes any sense. You can't pull guard, but you can give up your leg on purpose to get thrown on to the ground at no penalty like Gordon did to enter ground work. It's wild to me that it's a spectator sport that got 10,000 people to attend in Las Vegas considering it basically requires you to be an expert to understand remotely what they are doing. That said, there were a few people really good in the stand up phase: Ffion Davis (Judo blac source, 2022 ↗

Worlds Masters Blue Belt Tournament recap for me: my first tournament at blue belt (been about 2 months?) and my biggest BJJ tournament to date. It was nerve-wracking, but great for my game and self leading up to tournament, and I'm sure it'll be great for my game post-tournament as well. I ended up going 1 win and 1 loss. I had two goals: win at least one match and don't get subbed. I met one of these goals. Please excuse the length. I got to Las Vegas on Thursday as I had booked a bit in advanced, knowing i could be either on Friday or Saturday. It ended up being Saturday, whi source, 2022 ↗

If you only want to train nogi and don't care learning gi, 10p is okay. They have some amazing grapplers on their team, but consistency from gym to gym is lacking. Off the top of my head, 10p HQ LA, San Diego/Oceanside, Las Vegas, Bethlehem, and Austin are some of the well known schools. 10th Planet [insert random city here], who knows. Any large association school is likely to run into this issue. I personally utilize some 10th Planet concepts in my game, rubber guard, meathook, truck, lockdown, honeyhole. Gordon Ryan said rubber guard hasn't been proven at the highest levels, but wtf does he source, 2022 ↗

Since there's been some chatter about doing another Reddit MMA event, I thought it might be fun to share my experience here! As noted in the title, back in 2014 some folks right here in r/MMA started daydreaming about putting on a night of Redditor-vs-Redditor fights. One person had a connection to the Tuff-N-Uff promotion in Las Vegas, people started matching themselves up, and before I knew it, I was on a plane to Vegas. I signed up without having ever trained in any kind of combat sport, so with a few months of prep-time, I started myself on a crash course in BJJ and Muay Thai. Turned out source, 2022 ↗
