Seriously. And on top of that when I get to places I’m far less inclined to explore. Also recently spent a week in bogota and Medellin for work. First time I checked out Monserrat, second time I jerked off in my hotel room and ordered room service when I wasn’t working. Friday night, straight to hotel to watch movies. What the fuck happened to me? I used to schedule a 23 hour layover in some way out of the way country just to be able to see some random shit and go check it out. Yea. Not a ton of options for bjj. Only has one real bjj academy and it’s in their main city (Tbilisi). It’s not bad tho. Lot of people from all over the world are here for work, school, or the “digital nomad” lifestyle. There’s a few more options around the country for mma, and they all have no gi classes on some days as well. Judo is the combat sport of choice here tho. It’s really cheap and there’s almost no visa requirements. You get a year visa for free and it resets every time you exit the country, even if it’s only for 5 min. Why not both? You said you'll be going to open mats, right? Why not pick 1-3 people around your level that you like and invite them in on the lessons for free? I buy individual classes a lot, and I started getting way more mileage out of them when I started including regular training partners in them. I pay for the lesson, I drive the lesson topics (which my buddies are happy with, as they get free classes) and my teacher gets to alternate formal instruction with occasionally watching my friend and I go live at each other (often semi-live, and usually situational). I think there is a good bjj place called al wasl club. Never been, but I know a guy who trains there. There's also 10th planet jiu jitsu somewhere in that area, which is a great brand in the US, but never been here either. Then there's TK in media city, and the fitness / circuit classes are very nice, but the martial arts classes are very meathead style and wouldn't recommend for beginner. If you're willing to go across the highway to al Quoz, you will find what I'd consider the best gym for both the quality of training and community, Team Nogueira Dubai.
