Visit the isami store in shinjuku, good sales there source, 2025 ↗

Reversal has a spot in Shinjuku. Their rashguards are top notch. Make sure to size up; I wear M but dude working there recommended XL for me, which fits like an M. I dropped in at Carpe Diem Aoyama and have only great things to say about it. Super chill team that rolls hard. source, 2025 ↗

I've heard great things about Triforce too! If you're looking for nogi, check out BJJ Gym Tokyo they have some open mat sessions listed on their site. Hopefully, their schedule works with your plans. Let me know if you end up trying them out! source, 2025 ↗

I went to Gracie Jiu Jitsu in Osaka and Tri Force in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Both were great. I emailed both before turning up. The GJJ in Osaka was taught by a purple belt who was French and spoke French, English and Japanese. Tri Force was taught by a Japanese black belt in Japanese but you could figure out what was going on. source, 2023 ↗

I train at Triforce but if you're coming as a tourist I recommend the Carpe Diem dojos, they have the nicest facilities and are probably the most equipped to handle foreigners. You do need to contact them in advance. This goes for any gym -- I don't know of any that accept walk-ins. source, 2023 ↗

[triforce academy](https://www.triforce-bjj.com/) [carpe diem](https://www.carpediembjj.com/english) [imanari new academy](https://imanari-jiujitsu.com/english.html) Do you know where are you staying ? close to subway station? you can check from there the academies around. source, 2023 ↗

Triforce, Axis and Carpe Diem. All great gyms, all very welcoming to foreigners. source, 2018 ↗

The Kodakan in Tokyo is a really cool experience if you do any stand up/Judo. There were some other dudes cross training at Triforce there and they recommended it. source, 2018 ↗
